<p><strong>El Fuego Dentro: film screening, Q &amp; A with the artist, Alliance meeting and mixer:</strong> presented by the California LGBT Arts Alliance and the ONE National Gay &amp; Lesbian Archives, Thursday November 8th, 2012, at the ONE National Gay &amp; Lesbian Archives in Los Angeles.</p>
<p>The California LGBT Arts Alliance would like to express our thanks to David Frantz and the ONE National Gay &amp; Lesbian Archives for co producing this event.   We would also like to thank our event sponsors:  The City of West Hollywood, Impact Stories, The Black LGBT Project, Los Angeles Transgender Film Festival, OUTFEST and INSTALL: WeHo.</p>
<p>Twenty artists, organizational reps and supporters attended.  Organizational reps included, ONE National Gay &amp; Lesbian Archives, The Black LGBT Project, Autry National Center, Impact Stories and the Fairoaks Project.</p>
<p>The evening began with a welcome by David Frantz Curator at the ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives. Greg Day Director of  the California LGBT Arts Alliance welcomed Alliance members and  introduced film maker Dante Alencastre.  Dante  introduced his film El Fuego Dentro, which documents Transgender activism in his native country of Peru.  After the film screening Mr. Alencastre was joined by Queen Victoria Ortega, a Los Angeles Transgender activist, for a lively Q &amp; A session about the film and it’s importance to the community it presents.  Mr. Alencastre talked about his creative process and personal journey in making this film.  Ms Ortega talked about similarities and differences to the Los Angeles Transgender community and the importance of activism in securing Transgender rights.</p>
<p>The artist&#8217;s presentation was followed by an Alliance meeting and mixer.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The California LGBT Arts Alliance toured the In Focus: Robert Mapplethorpe exhibit at the Getty Center on January 9th. Getty exhibition curator Paul Martineau led the tour with an engaging presentation about Robert Mapplethorpe’s history and process as an artist.  After the tour Alliance members and friends attended the lecture Working With Mapplethorpe moderated by Philip Gefter and featuring Brian English, Judy Linn and Robert Sherman. It was an exciting evening for all. The Alliance would like to thank Getty Associate Curator Paul Martineau, Community Relations Coordinator Antonio Campos and Education Specialist Peter Tokofsky for inviting us to attend.</p>

<p><em>Held for the first time last year, Install:WeHo returns with an exploration of what it means to be a ‘Good Queer’. In this one  day exploration of visual and performance art, queer artists create installations in shipping pods/U-Hauls that appear overnight in the El Tovar Parking lot, forming a one-day temporary pop-up queer arts village, complete with a performance stage curated by Apt 3F on a flatbed truck.  </em></p>

<p>drkrm is pleased to present the male physique photography of John Palatinus, one of the pioneering physique photographers of the 1950&#8242;s. Along with <em>Lon of New York</em>, <em>Bruce of Los Angeles</em>, and Bob Mizer of <em>Athletic Model Guild</em>, he helped create a whole new genre of male photography. He was a major influence on Robert Mapplethorpe and may be one of the last living photographers from the 1950&#8242;s golden era of physique photography.   This exhibition will be on view from June 8th through June 29th, 2013 with an Artist reception on Saturday, June 8 from 7-10pm.</p>
